At OneLife, our curriculum is designed to challenge the idea that “secular” and “sacred” are two separate boxes. We believe that a student’s ability to manage a bank account is just as connected to their faith as their ability to lead a Bible study.
Recently, our OLX students spent time exploring this intersection through two lenses: Financial Stewardship and Spiritual Intimacy.
The Discipline of Stewardship
Money is one of the most practical tools we are entrusted with, yet it is often one of the most difficult to navigate. Our OLX students spent time under the instruction of Dr. Carey Brown, diving into the world of Personal Finance.
This isn’t just about math; it’s about Management. Through case studies, intense testing, and strategic games like the “Cashflow” tournament, students applied Biblical principles to real-world scenarios. We want our students to leave OneLife not just with a vision for their lives, but with the practical tools to steward the resources God provides.
The Foundation of Intimacy
However, practical skills without a spiritual foundation can lead to a life of “doing” without “being.” That is why we balance our high-energy finance weeks with deep dives into discipleship.
Focusing on the concept of intimacy with God, our students explored practical steps to move forward in their personal relationship with Him. We believe that true leadership flows out of a place of rest and connection with the Father.
Finding Rest in Community
A “full and busy” life must be balanced by intentional rest. We make it a priority to step away from the classroom to enjoy:
- Hospitality: Sharing meals and deep discussions in local homes.
- Worship: Reconnecting with our “Why” through nights of worship alongside other students and local schools.
- Reflection: Winding down the week to process what has been learned.
Whether we are calculating interest rates or quieted in prayer, the goal remains the same: to develop servant leaders who are prepared to launch into the world with wisdom and a deep love for Jesus.
