This week was a pause from our regular 4-week learning cycle—it wasn’t a typical class week because we dove into something just as important: Career Direct assessment week!

We had the privilege of hosting Career Direct consultant, Dr. David Hockman, who guided us through exploring careers that align with our personalities, strengths, gifts, interests, and values. Each of us spent an afternoon completing the assessment (about an hour each) and then had a personal two-hour consultation with Dave throughout the week. It was an incredibly insightful, thought-provoking, and fun experience! For those not in consultation sessions, there was plenty of time to focus on homework, and many reports were completed.

On Friday, we crowned our first Leader of the Week (LOW): Alissa! She did a fantastic job maintaining order in the house and ensuring everyone got to bed on time—saving our Resident Leader Alayna from having to “badger” us. Alissa also led meaningful community prayer each morning, setting a high bar for next week’s LOW, Nancy!

Our Fitness Committee, FitCo, was on a mission to get us ready for Trek — and wow, did they deliver! We were all sore for days after Monday’s workouts, but it was well worth the effort. Meanwhile, the Worship Committee prepared a deeply moving time of worship, guiding us through reflection, repentance, and prayer, followed by heartfelt songs that touched everyone.

Thursday was a slower day since Dave had finished his consultations and left. To mix things up, Alayna kindly took some of us girls out for a fun trip to Starbucks, Target, and Hobby Lobby. We stocked up on craft supplies, Christmas decorations, and snacks — plus, the seasonal Starbucks drinks were a perfect treat!

Friday kicked off with OneLife’s “Fill Your Seat” challenge, where we referred friends to join the OneLife community. To make the morning even sweeter, Alayna and Michael set up a hot chocolate bar with Paula’s Donuts—a delicious and warm way to start the day while supporting OneLife.

Service continues strong! Allie and Kayla are working remotely with Every Child, and the Sheridan Parkside girls have been cooking, cleaning, and connecting at the Life Center midweek.

In our downtime—when we’re not in class, doing homework, serving, or walking—we’ve been brainstorming Instagram Reel ideas to keep everyone back home updated on our journey.

The week coming up, we’ll jump back into our learning cycle with a focus on Gospel & Society.

Until next time, this is the OneLife Buffalo girls signing off!
